Maria Iordandiu (1897-1989) decided to write about Constantinopla and, when she was over sixty years old, she wrote her first literary publication titled Loxandra (1963, 31ª edition in 1990). The overwhelming success that she got from this novel encouraged the author to keep on writing works. Apart from the commercial triumph attained in Greece, Loxandra has been translated to several languages and, besides, adapted to a TV series titled the same name.
