Today we are fully aware of the characteristic continuity of the Greek language throughout its long history and we are beginning to see the relevance of having a knowledge of modern Greek to improve reading fluency and consolidate linguistic contents of the ancient language. This book is a brief introduction to the historical evolution of the Greek language and to the neo-Hellenic culture. It consists of three blocks: the first offers a chronological study and a brief outline of the fundamental characteristics of modern Greek with exercises; the second is composed of five lessons dealing with the basic notions of modern Greek at the grammatical and the functional level for use in the classroom; and the third contains examples of contemporary music and literature with activities and their solutions.
