Juan Basilio de Castellví, Count of Cervelló and a member of the Valencian nobility, was a controversial political figure moving from support for the Bourbons to exile after the defeat of the Austrian party in the War of the Spanish Succession. He had a great deal of influence at the Austrian court and cultural relationships all over Europe, including his friendship with Gregorio Mayans. This book is a critical edition of the poetic and dramatic texts from the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century by Castellví and other writers who belonged to the circle of intellectuals who met in the salons of the palace of the Marquises of Villatorcas, belonging to Juan Basilio’s family: the literary leaders of the young generation of intellectuals known as the novatores. | |
