The first part is based on the neighbourhoods and on parish registers – knowledge of the development of population and the factors explaining it – together with an in-depth look at one of the most interesting variables (mortality rate). In the second part, lease books, parish tithe records and parish accounts (Primicia, Fábrica, brotherhoods, etc.) have made it possible to uncover local series of production and price figures, giving a picture of economic resources that have always depended on agriculture, with an important supplement from manufacturing activities. The third block, again considering parish documents (richly informative death certificates, foundation and service books, records of pastoral visits, etc.), deals with the study of human attitudes and human behaviours in the face of death, as well as an analysis of the multiple forms of religiosity experienced by the rural community around its focal point (the parish). The work is completed with three digital appendices (statistics, graphs and documents). | |
